SLAB CITY TRIKER
I Worked on a school out in a GodForsaken town called Niland California. This town was the bottom of the barrel, A Stinky blighted hole of a place just east of the Salton Sea. I heard of Man who was painting a mountain, The old man who made it, dedicated it to the lord and he called it "Salvation Moutain"
I had to laugh at the story, but being a painter by trade, it struck my curiousity at the same time...
BTW, the sign in the picture is made of a mixture of sand and paint...so is the mountain and it's objects........
.
So I cut out early to take a peek at the place which was east, just about 5 miles away. Came upon it quick and realized I was in a place they called Slab City. I had heard about the deserted military base, all thats left are bunkers pillboxes and slabs. Everyone from snowbirds to bumms come out there and park and homestead, the bearen slabs make for a perfect place to level the RV. so I decided to continue my journey to do a little bit of Good Old Fashion Exploring.......

Thats when I met Him...I was about 2 miles down a washboard when I came upon a sight, the last thing I was looking for is a Trike, But there it was, I down shifted and spun around, laughing at such a sight until I cried. I then "E-Braked" my scud to a stop and readied my camera, I was sure that this image couldn't go by me without sharing with my fellow Trikers.
Then HE came out of the screen door...."Whatcha doin young fellar......BURP!"...he said. I respectfully answered, "well sSir, I kinda worship trikes and I believe you have an ultra rare and rather unique machine there"....he Smiled....."Can I take a picture of you by it?" I asked..
he said nothing as he moved over in a drunken stuper to his Noble Steed.. I clicked the shutter and with a nice goodbye, I was gone...

I did look back in my rearview mirror and that good ol Slab City Triker had a PROUD smile on his face and waved GOODBYE to me, but then lost his drunken balance and feel to the dirt....
After getting the picture developed and I got a chance to look again, I notice the old dude was hooked up, solar and satalite, gizmo's and gadgets...
and a GOOD OLD TRIKE to Twist to town with.
