MSIR

    Other Name: Morphine Sulfate Immediate Release

    Purpose:

    The purpose of MSIR is to relieve breakthrough pain not relieved by routine pain medication.

    How It is Given:

    MSIR is given by mouth in either tablet or liquid form. Be sure to follow the instructions on the label.

    Side Effects:

    The possible side effects of MSIR are:

    • Drowsiness
    • Dizziness
    • Confusion
    • Headache
    • Sedation
    • Euphoria
    • Nausea
    • Vomiting
    • Constipation (see Laxative Protocol)
    • Cramps
    • Anorexia
    • Rash
    • Respiratory Depression
