Northwest Public Radio News and Views Radio for Walla Walla

The Good News: The committee shepherding the new "News and Views" Public Radio station for the Walla Walla area has been informed that it should be on the air sometime around the first half of December, l996. The transmitting links from Pullman and the Tri Cities are in place, and the tower on Pikes Peak built. Some lease problems have been holding things up, but Jean feels that the problems are just about solved.

The station will broadcast on FM 89.7, as radio FM KWSW, and will start out with the same daily schedule as Radio KWSU AM airs from Pullman. After a few pledge cycles, we listeners will have broadcast to us what the majority of we pledgers desire. So listen up and make your dollars felt and your hopes known.

The Bad News: We still are about $20,000 short in funding, which NWPR hopes can be dug up sometime soon. The committee will send out a mailing to all past contributors to NWPR, and will contact some of the local wheelers and dealers to talk up the benefits that this new scource will provide us all.

This is your chance to put your money where your mouth and desires are! Any amount given or pledged will foster the success of this new station.
