These instructions are for advising customers how to download programs from the BMI ftp site using DOS. To use these instructions the customer must be able to authenticate a Username and Password on the bmi server or successfully ping www.google.com DOS FTP download 1. Click on the Start button and select the Run listing 2. Clear the Open field 3. Type "command" or "cmd" for Win. XP . This will open a DOS screen on the computer. It will be a black screen with white lettering. 4. At C:\Documents and Settings\ type "cd \" 5. At C:\> type "ftp -A ftp2.bmi.net" 6. At ftp> type "get filename.exe" the filename.exe could be any file you are trying to download see botton of page for some examples. 7. Wait for download to complete. 8. At ftp> type "quit". This will exit the ftp site and return the C:\>. 9. At C:\> type "exit". This will exit the DOS screen and return the Windows Desktop screen. 10. Open the My Computer icon 11. Open the Local Disk C 12. Locate the .exe icon for the file you have downloaded. Left click twice to open the file that has been downloaded. Install the program.
