While surfing this week, I stumbled upon a very nice FREE streaming music site (pandora.com) that lets you create your own music stations. These stations are created automatically when you enter a group or song name. It picks music similar to the song or group that you initially "seed" the site with.
I started with my first seed of Metallica and it identified similar hard rock and metal that was exactly the type of music that I was looking for. My second seed was Scorpians and once again Pandora came up with a playlist that contained music that I was looking for. The 3rd seed was Johnny Cash (not for me, this was for my mom - probably explains my love of metal now - ha).
You can also buy music from Pandora and create custom playlists and share with friends and family.
The music is free and is based on the Music Genome Project. The project was started in January 2000 by a group of musicians and technologists that came up with the idea of having the most comprehensive analysis of music ever created. They capture the essence of music at the fundamental level based on hundreds of musical attributes.
