Hello to everyone in BMI land. Is it just me or did this year go by WAY to fast? We are already into December. And what a year it has been. So what kinds of issues have been plaguing your computer? I can only assume that there haven't been any as no one has sent me any suggestions to talk about this month. That's okay though, sometimes no news is good news.
Well, with Christmas coming up we always get ready for the shoppers that buy their families computers. With a new computer comes a new internet provider. And that's where we come in. Don't forget to tell your friends and families about us and get a $5 credit on your account! That's right...refer a friend or family member to BMI, and we will give you money!
With the possible purchase of a new computer in mind, you may need to set up your existing BMI connection on the new computer. "But wait, what if its Christmas Day and we're closed? What will you do? New computer? Check! Internet connection? Uh oh, didn't think this one through..."
Fear not! I have a way you can do it yourself. Get your new computer plugged in, turned on, and sitting on the desktop. Then follow the next few steps. Before you know it, you'll be up and surfing the net.
1. Click on Start
2. Click on Control Panel
3. Click on Network and Internet
4. Click on Network and Sharing Center
5. On the left side of the window, click the link that says Set up a connection or network
6. Select Set up a dialup connection and click next
7. Enter your dialup number in the phone number field. (A complete list of dialup numbers can be found at BMI Phonebook so you might want to leave your old computer plugged in so you can get this info).
8. Enter your full email address in the username box. This includes the "@bmi.net" portion of it.
9. Enter your password in the password box
10. Place a check in the box next to Remember password
11. Type BMI in the connection name box
12. Make sure your phone line is connected to the computer
13. Then click connect. If something doesn't go quite right, or something isn't working like you think it should, don't worry. We'll be here on the 26th to answer all the questions you have.
I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving, and Merry Christmas to all.
