Introducing_TwitterI'm sure by now you have heard of Twitter. The micro-blogging site has been highlighted on Oprah, Larry King, CNN and many other places. I plan on introducing you to Twitter in this article. I was introduced to Twitter by one of our technicians, Michelle, a few months ago.

It's a great tool to update all of your social networking sites at once. (I.e. Facebook, Myspace, Flickr, blogs, etc.) Click the previous link to learn what micro-blogging is all about.

When you have someone on your list that you want to get updates from, it is called following.

I use Twitter to:

  • Follow friends so I can read what is happening in their lives
  • Follow interesting people...some that make me laugh with their ideas and their take on life
  • Follow my local newspaper...I receive breaking news as it happens
  • Follow people in the technical field who provide information relevant to what I am interested in. Like TechCrunch
  • Follow The Onion for comedy
So, I can see that my best friend is asking if we can get together for lunch at the very same location as I get local breaking news! I don't have to go to several programs and sites to find all the information I am looking for, I find it all on my Twitter.
